Welcome to LANMA!
Hi there! LANMA is a club for fans of anime (Japanese animation) and manga (Japanese comics) in the Leicester, UK area. We've been running since 1997, but we're always looking for new members! We stage regular weekly showings of newly released subtitled anime (as well as fan-favourite classic titles) and other neat stuff such as quizzes and social events, and a club discount on anime/manga purchases.

'Kitsune-chan'
Since the fox is the symbol of Leicester, we've chosen a cute fox-girl, Kitsune-chan to be our mascot chara. Shown at right is the 2002/03 LANMA T-shirt design featuring Kit-chan, created by Cloud of NAMSoc. These T-shirts will shortly be available to club members for £15 each. Please email me for ordering details.

Promoting Japanese animation to Leicester and the world and generally having a good time, that's what LANMA's about. Join us!

Meetings

We meet every Tuesday evening during University term time, in the Attenborough Film Theatre, in the basement of the Attenborough Tower, Leicester University campus. Meetings start at about 7:30pm, and usually finish at about 10:00pm. For details of how to reach the campus, please see the Leicester University website. We are within easy walking distance of Leicester City Station.

LANMA is supported by the University's Audio-Visual Services department (domo arigato!) and we use a video projection system, which means that you can enjoy anime on a big six foot by ten foot screen.

Video Library

We have our own video library - for a fee of £5 per year, members can borrow discs from our extensive anime collection. See the LANMA Video Club website for more details!

Animosity

LANMA has its own fanzine Animosity, edited by Foxy. Contributions of articles and artwork are always welcome. Copies of Animosity can be bought online from Sweatdrop.com!

AmeCon 2004

LANMA is sponsoring AmeCon 2004, an anime convention running at the Oadby Halls of Residence, Leicester on 20-22 August 2004. AmeCon looks set to be the largest convention of 2004, so register now to avoid disappointment! Please direct all queries regarding AmeCon to ops@amecon.org.

Membership

Membership of LANMA for the 2003-04 year will cost £3. LANMA members are entitled to a membership card which gives them a discount of 10% on cash purchases from Magic Labyrinth, the best comics, manga and SF retailer in Leicester.

IMPORTANT: Membership is open to both students of Leicester University and non-students, but please note that the minimum age for membership of LANMA is 16. Proof of age may be required upon joining.
